Biography

At present I am an research (guest) professor at the Brussels Free University (VUB). I have worked in such a capacity for the last two years since finishing my PhD. In this time I have continued my professional interest in the use of health data for healthcare and research purposes and have accordingly published a number of times on such issues. I have also worked as the research director of the Brussels Privacy Hub where I have engaged in research and collaboration on such issues in addition to conducting a number of research visits at other institutions.

My background is of a multi disciplinary nature, something evidenced very much by my PhD (about to be published as a monograph) which concerned not only issues of privacy and data protection but also psychology, natural sciences and political studies. Furthermore, in addition to my legal degrees I also have a BSc in Biochemistry, something that has, and will provide me with a multidisciplinary insight ranging from legal issues through to, and including those rooted in the biological sciences. Bringing together thought and research from such strands has been something I enjoyed very much and something I would like to continue in the future.
