Dr. Yang received his medical training in Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine from 1988 to 1993. Dr. Yang was interested in molecules mechanisms in disease onset, progress and recovery, which brought him into the field of molecular biology. Dr. Yang obtained his PhD degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry in 2001, focusing on transcriptional regulation of gene expression and biomarkers involved in spermatogenesis and progression of prostate cancer and leukemia. In 2016, Dr. Yang joined the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where he has been working on surveillance and diagnosis of infectious diseases, including upper respiratory infections with bacterial and viral agents, emerging zoonotic influenza viruses that have potential to spill over to humans.
