Usman Pato graduated from Agricultural Technology Program, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Hasanuddin University in 1989, Master of Food Science from Shinshu University, Japan in 1997 and Doctorate in Food Science at United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences , Gifu University, Japan in 2000. Since 1 March 1990, joined as a lecturer at the Faculty of Non Degree Technology of Universitas Riau (UNRI) and lecturer at the Faculty of Agriculture UNRI on March 1, 1991. The author had been Chairman of the Diploma Program D3 Faculty of Agriculture UNRI in 2000 -2003, Head of Research Center of UNRI in 2003-2005, Vice Dean on Academic Affair Faculty of Agriculture UNRI year 2005-2009, Dean of Faculty of Agriculture UNRI 2009-2013 and 2013-2017. Member of Indonesian Food Technologist Association (PATPI) since 2000-present, Chairman of PATPI Branch of Riau (2012-present) and Professor in Food Microbiology at Faculty of Agriculture UNRI since July 1, 2005. Usman was recorded as an editor and reviewer in several national and international scientific journals. He also often attended national and international seminars held in Indonesia and abroad. To date, Usman and the research team have published more than 100 articles in national journals in Indonesia and reputable international journals indexed by Scopus, Google Scholar and others.
