Research interests focus on the cancer genome and epigenome abnormalities and in our studies we used the methods of genetics, molecular biology, tumor-cell biology, genome editing and animal models. For years we have analyzed hundreds of cancer specimens for the alterations of gene expressions and genome copy number variations (CNVs) and methylations in prostate cancers. We examined the correlations of abnormalities identified with the clinical aggression of cancers and evaluated the clinical diagnostic and therapeutic value of the promising targets in cancers. Currently, we are characterizing fusion genes identified in our transcriptome sequencing studies of human malignancies, and we envision these fusions as the transcriptional products of genome rearrangements, a driving gene event in cancer development and progression.
