Biography

Dawam graduated from the University of Jos, Nigeria with BMBCH in 1985. He undertook Residency Training in Urological Surgery at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital Zaria,Nigeria gaining the Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in 1995. He took up appointment as Consultant Urological Surgeon and Lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria respectively.

Mr Dawam moved to the UK in 1999 as a UICC Fellow to the Royal Marsden Hospital, London where he spent time working with Mr W.F. Hendry and Prof. C.R.J. Woodhouse undertaking some of the best practices in modern urological cancer diagnosis and treatment at a world renowned Cancer Centre. He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England FRCS(Urol) in 2010.

This was later followed by Fellowships at the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire(UHCW) in the United Kingdom and famous Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham all in the United Kingdom, between 2012 and 2013. To further incorporate some of the best practices in modern urological surgery, Mr Dawam also undertook Mini-Fellowships at Institute of Urology and Nephrology, Mansoura with Prof. Hassan Abou El-Enein ,and also with with Prof. Urs Studer at Inselspital, University of Berne, Switzerland as well as Mini Fellowships with Prof. Inderbir Gill at Keck Medicine of University of Southern California(USC), Los Angeles where he is a Visiting Physician. Mr Dawam joined Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in 2014 as Consultant Urological Surgeon .

His research interests and sub-specialist practice are Pelvic Uro-oncology and Laparoscopy /Robotic Surgery.
