Dr. Zhang’s research is focused on identifying novel molecular targets in pancreatic cancer that are important in the cellular response to radiation-induced DNA damage. He is involved with several translational therapeutic projects to optimize the use of agents targeting FBXW7, ATM and PARP1 in pancreatic cancer. More recently, Dr. Zhang has initiated new research focused on improving the efficacy of immune checkpoint therapies in pancreatic cancer by combining agents targeting the DNA damage response with radiation. Dr. Zhang also has extensive experience in mechanism-based studies of DNA double-strand break repair pathways.
